Echoes of War

Echoes of War is an interactive sound installation made in response to the most recent terrorist attacks in Paris. Once the viewer crosses the threshold that divides what is seen as a normal life they enter into a black space were a choir saying “war“ will sound constantly as long as they are there. The negativity of the black space and the burnt chair pushes the viewer to return to the comfort zone where they can peacefully contemplate the scene from a safe distance. The choir is triggered by a motion sensor and controlled by the software Max/MSP where several voices are arranged in a specific combination, once the visitor leaves the black space, the choir ceases to play.
